Mellisa Tomerlin says of her work, "I was inspired to create my line of jewelry after stumbling across an article on the counter culture of Steampunk. I was fascinated by the use of watches and gears but found many of the designs to be cumbersome for everyday wear. I then set down to design a line that features intricate vintage watch movements in wearable pieces of jewelry."
The jewelry pieces are made using brass stampings formed from vintage molds. She manipulates, pierces, and layers the stampings using a variety of cold forming techniques and finish the piece with vintage watch movement that makes each piece unique.
All of the watch movements are vintage nonworking movements that are 40 to over 100 years old.
